Winter/Spring 2021 - Online Program

GYSO is hosting a masterclass-style online course

in place of in-person rehearsals.

Download the course guide here!

Sessions are Thursdays at 7:00pm EST

from January 21st through April 15th.

What will these sessions look like?

With the success of our masterclass-style term in the fall, we will continue this format in the winter and spring. Each week students will be preparing issued orchestral excerpts to play in the online sessions, and will learn an overview of the featured work. Each masterclass has a universal theme to ponder - such as how to play with the correct character, or how to tackle practicing a tricky passage. Guest musician mentors occasionally join our sessions.

Please note: One session is currently held on Thursday evenings; if enrolment is high, a second session will be scheduled to ensure every student receives their due masterclass time.

Do I need special technology to join?

Sessions are on the Google Meet platform. You will need a device with a microphone and a dependable internet connection. You do not need an external mic to participate.

Do I need to audition?

Auditions are suspended at this time, and we invite any interest student to inquire about registering for the online course. Generally GYSO is comprised of dedicated high school and university students who enjoy music as an important part of their lives.

What will tuition be this term?

GYSO tuition for Winter/Spring 2021 Online is $250 until January 4th - please view the course guide pdf for more information.
